Bam-Bam Costume

Good Morning to you all! I hope you weekend was long and fun. My sister-in-law got married this weekend so we had a wonderful weekend.

I wanted to share with you my son's Bam-Bam costume I made. It was really easy and quick.

It has a:
club
hat
shoes
skirt with shoulder strap & bone

You will need:
animal print fabric
brown fleece (leftover of daddys Barney costume)
thread
needle
sewing machine
batting
baseball cap
cardboard
safety pins

To make the club:
I drew a club pattern on paper and cut out two in the left over brown fleece. I sewed them together leaving a hole to turn it right side out. Then I stuffed it with batting; forming it the way I wanted it to look. Then I hand sewed the hole closed.

To make the hat:
Using a baseball cap that my son doesn't really wear I hand stitched on scrap pieces of the animal print and brown fleece.

To make the shoes:
I used an online pattern from Stardust Shoes. You can get your personal use only copy here.

To make the outfit:
I cut out a rectangle that went from my son's waist to his ankles. Sewed the short ends of the rectangle together making a tube. Sewed the top making a pocket for the elastic to go through. Added elastic and stitched it together. Zigzagged the bottom of the skirt.

I made the shoulder strap with leftover animal print material. Making a long skinny tube and attached it to the skirt using safety pins.

The bone is cut out of cardboard.

On Halloween we will dress our little baby in some warm pj's and his costume and show him off to our neighbors!

What are your children being for Halloween?

DIY Aprons

I have been called to be the Assistant Birthday Coordinator in our ward. Which in my opinion is the best calling ever. I get to be crafty and wish every lady in the ward a happy birthday! This year for a birthday gift we are making aprons. Now that might seem like a lot of work, but not with this simple pattern (if you can even call it a pattern).

You will need:
large kitchen towels (we bought ours at Ross)
thread
ribbon
buttons
sewing machine
needle

1. Buy your cute towels
2. Cut in on a diagonal on each side (starting a little high than the middle of the towel and going to the top of the apron)
3. Fold seam under and sew a straight line on top
4. Thread needle
5. Place ribbon on back of apron and button on top of the apron
6. Sew on buttons (holding the ribbon in place); 2 at the top and 2 on the sides
What do you think?! Quick and easy! And super cute!!!

Quilted Euphoria Giveaway {CLOSED}

I am so excited to introduce to you my new friend and new sponsor Amber from Quilted Euphoria. I luckily bumped into her a couple of weeks ago when I saw her super cute beach bag!

What do you think?! Super cute! Click here to see her Summer Fun Beach Bag blog post!

I want Amber to introduce herself and then we will tell you all about her shop & giveaway!!!

Hello everyone, my name is Amber and I'm a quilt addict! I run a little blog space over at Quilted Euphoria.

I have been married to my best friend for four and a half years, and even though we drive each other crazy, (he leaves his socks on the couch...) we still somehow, want to be around each other all the time! (don't ask me how or why, you'll get a blank look...) He's from Tennessee and I'm from Utah, so we have family in both places. We just moved back to Utah after living in Tennessee for four years. I'm glad to be back but I miss my TN family a lot. So I quilt to deal with that...well...I quilt for all kinds of reasons really, this is just the one I'm using today. :-)

I started falling in love with quilting at a young age. My grandmother made me quilts for all occasions, and I remember becoming fascinated with her process early on. My very first quilt that I did myself was made when I was 19 out of leftover pioneer dress fabric. I then caught the sickness and started making many more. I decided to turn my love of quilting into a business as a way to supplement my husband's income after I got married, and have been going full steam ahead ever since.

I started this blog as a way to share my addiction with everyone I meet! I wanted to get my name out there, promote my business and turn doing what I love my way of life. But mostly, I just want to share the quilting addiction! As much as I love quilting, I also love making all kinds of things with fabric. Tote bags, pillows, aprons, table runners, you name it! My husband is baffled by this as I'm not patient in anything else in life, yet I craft and quilt! (He calls me his walking - quilting oxymoron!) I can't help it, there's just something so addicting about cutting up perfectly good pieces of fabric and sewing them back together again. I will never understand it; I just give in to it!

I love meeting new friends in real life and in my blogging life. So I'd love to have you come over to my blog, read, stay and become a follower (I promise, I won't make you eat a raw chicken or anything...at least not on your first visit!)

I hope to get to know all of you better, & thanks for stopping in!

I hope that we can all get to know Amber a little bit better!

Birthday banner tutorial

Friday is Earth day! And to help us remember to reduce, reuse & recycle, I have some projects and ideas!

It was my husband's birthday this weekend! And I made a birthday banner to celebrate his special day.

You will need:
at least 13 different pieces of 4 inches by 6 inches of SCRAP material (I had 2 of 12 different pieces)
black material for your letters
bias tape
iron adhesive

I don't have a machine to cut my material all fancy and cute, so I made box letters.
Pin the letters to the adhesive.
Cut them out.
Peal off the liner on the adhesive.
Iron on the letters to my colored fabric pieces.
Pin them on to the bias tape. And sew!
Happy Birthday!

Burp cloth tutorial

These burp cloths are super easy to make. I found the material at a yard sale and I bought the batting at Jo-Ann's with a coupon! For a free printable pattern and step by step directions go here.
With the scrap fabric I cut out a whale and sewed it on with a tight zig-zag stitch.

Dinosaur Nursery

Well, my family and I are in the midst of moving. So, I am just adding to the blog with old pictures of projects I have. When we get all settled in and I have time to work on new things I will have more updated posts.

This is the dinosaur nursery I made for my son in our old cinder-block apartment using what I had available (we were poor college students).

I painted three pictures: two dinosaur and one volcano. Mind you I have never painted anything for fun in my life and thought I would start a new hobby. I think they turned out pretty well. We also hung a picture of a waterfall that we took on our summer trip to Hawaii.

I was so frustrated that I could find the perfect material to make his bumper and blanket out of. So on our trip to Idaho my mom and I spent 4 hours searching stores to find the perfect fabric. We finally went to Wal-mart and there we found it!
