Cake Inspiration

My husband came up with the idea that we should celebrate him NEVER going back to school again this "back to school" season. Basically, the start of school will be meaningless to us for the next couple years until our son starts school. So, when I ran into Andrea at My Cake Corner and saw her neat apple cake and I felt inspired to make my own; so we could have a fun celebration!

What do you think? Pretty inspiring?

I made my cake completely from scratch. I didn't get my hopes to high (so I wouldn't be crushed when it didn't turn out). It was fun to make; even thought it took me all day.

It doesn't quite look like an apple. So it is a ice cream scoop! At least it is round! And it tasted so good!

Andrea makes the cutest cakes! She is so creative. I hope you all have a chance to visit Andrea at My Cake Corner and become inspired yourself!

Yard sale deals

This past couple of weekends my family and I have been stopping by a couple of yard sales and scoring deals. I made a list of the clothes our little boy would need until next summer (next yard sale season) and we went shopping. We have completed his fall, winter & spring wardrobe for the upcoming months for $31! That includes onesies, pants, pjs, church clothes, shirts, etc. in size 6 months-12 months. And we also got a great deal on a bike trailer...$15! We are more than excited and our little guy loves it! I can't wait until next weekend. Maybe we will find some great birthday and Christmas presents.

Wow! I am feeling really honored today. I woke to this wonderful note saying my Family Goal Chart was being featured over at Growing Up Gardner's Kidding Around Friday Link Party!

Game Banner

So, I made this fun game pieces banner for date night. The nice thing is you can use it for multiple dates or a party!

You will need:

construction paper

hot glue gun

yarn

cutting machine or stencil

First I designed game pieces on my Silhouette.

Then I cut them out.

I hot glued them onto some yarn to make it a banner.

On the backs of the game pieces I wrote different games. For date night you pick a game piece, turn it over and play the game written on the back.
