Indoor sensory time

One morning we woke up to snow.  Instead of getting all bundled up to go out and play in it I brought the snow inside!

We added spoons, cookie cutters, ladles and even a Pam cooking spray lid to two bowls of snow.  My son had so much fun playing with the snow.  It entertained us for about 1/2 an hour!

Now that we are in our new house I want to build a sensory table.  So hopefully in the future we wont have to sit on the floor.

Rainbow pancakes

Last St. Patrick's Day treat...

I also made mini rainbow pancakes to add to our fruit rainbow.

Super easy...add food coloring to your favorite pancake recipe and poor a small amount of batter onto your pan.

Our St. Patrick's was a great day that we spent together as a family with some super fun and colorful treats.  What do you do?

Fruit rainbow

Continuing on with our St. Patrick's Day treats...

For breakfast we had a fruit rainbow!  It was so yummy.  We had whipping cream to dip our fruits into as well.

Here are some ideas for your own fruit rainbow:

RED: strawberries, raspberries, cherries, watermelon chucks. grapefruit

ORANGE: orange slices, tangerines, clementines, cantalopes mangos, peaches

YELLOW: pinapples, lemons, bananas

GREEN: kiwi, green grapes, honeydews, limes

BLUE: blueberries, blackberries, dark grapes

PURPLE: grapes

WHITE CLOUDS: whipping cream, marshmellows, fruit dip

POT OF GOLD: chocolate gold coins, rolos, oatmeal

Rainbow jello

I have missed you all and posting on Doodles and Doilies.  We have been so busy lately.  We moved into our new house!  We absolutely love it and I look forward to posting many fun projects we do.  So far nothing to exciting.  We've replaced the door stoppers because we had none, we bought carbon monoxide detectors and installed those, etc.  And the good news is we are almost done unpacking!

I know this post is so very late, but I made this jello for my family and for you so I will share some of our fun St. Patrick's Day treats.

RAINBOW JELLO!

 It is super easy to make it just takes all day.

You will need:

6 small packages of jello (red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple)

1 large tub of Cool Whip

Start with the purple jello.  Make the fast set way.  Set aside 1/3 of the jello mixture.  If you are using the small packages of jello it will be 2/3 cup.  Put the remaining 2/3 into your serving dish.  Chill in fridge for 15-30 minutes.  It depends on who big/small your serving dish is.  Meanwhile mix the leftover 1/3 with a 2/3 cup of Cool Whip.  Add the jello Cool Whip mixture to the chilled jello by carefully layering it on with a spoon.  Chill for 15 minutes.  Then you will do the blue jello and repeat the steps; continually adding layers.

When the jello is completely done add cool whip on top.  If you want sprinkle on some green, gold or rainbow sprinkles.  Try adding a chocolate gold coin.

Hey everyone.

First of all, if you're reading this, thank you. It means the world. Most biographies are in third person and contain fancy details of every accomplishment or hardship that makes a person who they are. I'm going to write this casually in first person and do my best to simply explain who I am and what my music is.

I don't have any special awards or even a record label to make me stand out. I'm a nineteen-year old-dreamer, still growing up in Idaho. I'm sure everyone has hit a point in life where there's a million different roads to take, and you're just not sure which one is for you. Or maybe you're just stuck on a straight path...and options are nowhere to be seen. I kind of feel like I'm in the middle of both...and here is what brought me here.

I grew up falling in love with music. Lyrics and poetry were the only ways I knew how to speak. When I was eleven years old I wrote my first song. Just lyrics and melody...no instrument. The only instrument I'd ever come close to was a piano, which the lessons only lasted a few years in. So from eleven to fifteen, one by one, I created a binder full of lyrics and several tapes of audio. Still to this day, it blows my mind how I could remember every melody to those songs. But somehow, they're still stuck in there. :) My most important goal was to make a CD. It was all I could ever imagine wanting. After calling several recording studios in the area, however, the discovery that nobody would make music for me kept me in a hole. So one day I hopped on the living room piano and forced myself to write something to one of my songs. I never imagined it was possible, but I did it. After that one song, it was done. I had a new way of writing. A new binder came to be, with songs that actually had music. My junior year, I asked my choir teacher, the amazing Jack Brown, if he would let me use his home studio to record. Spring break hit, and a week later I had my first CD in my hands. Nothing professional, but a definite dream come true. I titled it, Remember Love, after my favorite song on the album.

Valentine's dinner

After we put our son to bed my husband and I enjoyed a romantic evening! We have a fun tradition for our Valentine's dinner...CRAB!!!
We enjoyed cheddar biscuits, Cobb salad, lemony love potion, broccoli, mashed potatoes, and of course king crab legs!

Homemade art easel

I wanted to go buy an art easel so my little boy could explore more art options.

But instead of buying one I made one for FREE out of an empty diaper box (from Costco).

I cut off the sides. Turned it inside out and taped the top edges together with brown/tan duct tape.

Then I hot glued two clothes pins on.

I am really excited how it turned out! What do you think?

Valentine's Day boxes

I wanted to make some Valentine's boxes for my family to exchange Valentines (and love notes). My son colored his and I made two for my husband and I. I think they turned out pretty cute and it was really cheap.

Prince Birthday Party

I can't believe it...my son is ONE! The year went by so fast. But it sure is fun to have a busy little toddler to play with.

For his first birthday I created a royal banquet in honor of our little prince! We had bbq chiken drumsticks, baked potatoes, green salad, rolls and fruit (I even bough sword toothpicks!)

My husband helped me out by making this amazing chandelier out of cardboard and silver spray paint.

I even used my grandma silver three tier candlesticks for accent pieces on the table.

The party favors were chocolate gold coins!

I had so much fun planning this party! Now I just have to figure out what the theme will be for next year!
